Here are five local prep events to keep an eye on this week:

Prep softball: Archbishop Murphy at Cedarcrest, 4 p.m. Tuesday. The Wildcats and Red Wolves were the two best teams in the Cascade Conference last season and return a lot of talent. Cedarcrest is on top of the conference and sports a 7-0 overall record.

Prep baseball: Mount Vernon at Jackson, 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Timberwolves (4-3) will try to slow down the Bulldogs, who are off to a 5-2 start. A player to watch: Jackson first baseman Ben Steck, who has committed to Oregon State University as a sophomore.

Prep boys soccer: Edmonds-Woodway at Lynnwood, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Warriors started the season 0-3-1 in non-conference play, but have rebounded to win their first four Wesco 3A games. They’re on top of the conference, just ahead of the Royals, who have won five straight games.

Prep girls golf: Shorecrest at Shorewood, 3 p.m. Thursday. The Wesco 3A South rivals get together for a dual meet at Jackson Park. The Scots’ Jac Longstreth and the Thunderbirds’ Haley Wong have earned medalist honors in early-season matches.

Prep track and field: Cedar Park Christian-Bothell, Archbishop Murphy at Cedarcrest, 4 p.m. Thursday. The boys’ and girls’ squads from the three schools will converge in a mini-Cascade Conference meet. One athlete to watch: The Wildcats’ Holly Sudol, who finished first in the 100-meter run and the high jump in a March 30 meet, and placed first in the 400 and was part of Archbishop Murphy’s winning 4×200 relay team in a March 23 meet.
