PORTLAND, Ore. — Dustin Wolf has done it again.

The Everett Silvertips’ 16-year-old rookie goaltender turned in another stellar effort Sunday evening as the Everett Silvertips defeated the Portland Winterhawks 3-2 before 3,600 fans at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Patrick Bajkov had two goals, including the game-winner with 29 seconds to play, as the Silvertips (6-9-1, 13 points) won their second straight.

Portland (9-4, 18 points) dropped its third straight.

Wolf finished with 44 saves and earned his second Western Hockey League win following a 38-save effort in Everett’s 3-1 victory at Kamloops on Friday in Wolf’s WHL debut.

The emergence of Wolf is timely as starter Carter Hart continues to recover from mononucleosis.

Trailing 1-0 two minutes in, the Tips took the lead before the opening period was out. Matt Fonteyne tallied the equalizer at 7:42 with assists from Kevin Davis and Sean Richards. It was Fonteyne’s ninth goal of the year and moved him into a tie with Connor Dewar for the team lead.

Less than two minutes later, Bajkov scored the go-ahead goal with assists from Richards and Kyle Walker at 11:39.

That’s how it remained until Portland’s Kieffer Bellows tied the game 2-2 on a deflection with assists from Henri Jokuharji and Matthew Quigley at 9:38 in the second.

Lane Gilliss opened the scoring just 2:02 into the contest to give Portland a 1-0 lead.

Everett finished 0-for-4 on the power play. Portland was 0-for-3 on the man advantage.

The Winterhawks outshot the Tips 46-26.

Everett plays host to the Prince George Cougars at 7:35 p.m. Friday at Xfinity Arena.
