Lynnwood High School recently announced the hiring of three varsity head coaches.

Andrew Knudsen has been named the Royals’ baseball coach.

Knudsen replaces Fraser Dizard, who resigned earlier this year after three seasons at the helm. The Royals posted a 46-27 record under Dizard.

Knudsen was an assistant coach at Lynnwood the past two seasons.

Stephanie Tastad is the Royals’ new track and field head coach. She replaces Duane Lewis, who retired earlier this year after 46 years. Tastad, also Lynnwood’s head cross country coach, becomes just the second head track and field coach in school history.

Brandon Newby takes over for Brent Hudson as the Royals’ girls basketball coach. In his only season at the helm, Hudson guided Lynnwood to a sixth-place finish at the Class 3A state tournament last season.

“We return eight girls from last year’s varsity squad, three being starters,” Newby said. “We have six seniors returning and two very strong sophomores (Amiyah Kirkman and Nakia Boston) that have already made a huge impact in camp. (We’re) looking forward for both of them to have breakout seasons.”
