MARYSVILLE — An early morning crash in Marysville on Tuesday sent two people to the hospital, one with critical injuries.

The collision was reported around 6:50 a.m. in the 11700 block of State Avenue.

A blue Honda sedan was headed northbound and a Toyota van was southbound, turning east into a business parking lot.

“The vehicles collided almost head on in the northbound lanes,” police reported in a press release.

Marysville firefighters and medics had to cut the door off the Honda to get the driver out. The driver, a Granite Falls man, 26, suffered critical injuries and was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with critical injuries. He was undergoing surgery Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of the Toyota is a Stanwood man, 28. He was transported to the same hospital for evaluation and he was later released. There were no other passengers in the vehicles.

Police believe that the Honda and another dark passenger car were headed northbound on State Avenue approaching 116th St NE. Both vehicles were traveling in the inside lane just prior to the collision. It is believed the Honda was traveling behind the other dark-colored passenger car.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the vehicles shortly before the crash is asked to contact the Marysville Police Department Collision Investigation Unit at 360-363-8300.
