Skotdals plan new apartments in downtown Everett

EVERETT — The Skotdals are planning another apartment building in downtown Everett, this time at 2721 Wetmore Avenue.

The location, just south of Everett Avenue, is the former site of the Stewart Title Co. building, which burned down in 2008.

The new apartments are being designed with 63 units, according to public records recently obtained by The Daily Herald. There may be fewer units if some space is reserved for commercial use.

The city had approved plans for the site in 2013, said Meghan Pembroke, a spokeswoman for the mayor’s office. An updated proposal was approved in December.

More detailed plans, typically filed when seeking permits, have not been submitted, Pembroke said.

The property covers about a quarter-acre near the Everett Performing Arts Center and the Everett Family YMCA. It currently is being used as a private parking lot. The assessed value is $465,400.

It last was sold in 2010 from a trust company to a limited liability company. That LLC is associated with the Skotdal Brothers LLC, public records show.

Other Skotdal properties downtown include the Union Bank Building on Colby Avenue, the Library Place apartments on Hoyt Avenue, and the Aero Apartments on Rucker Avenue. The company did not respond to an inquiry for this story.

For the apartments on Wetmore, the proposed building height is 65 feet. The records describe 69 parking spaces, most of which would be underground. The rest of the parking would face the alley side of the property.
