EVERETT — Police were searching for suspects and witnesses in a drive-by shooting Tuesday in south Everett.

Multiple shots were fired from a dark SUV in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store at 3:37 p.m. in the 700 block of 112th Street SE, Everett police Sgt. Maryjane Hacker said.

The intended target appeared to be a red Ford Mustang and its occupants, Hacker said. Minutes later Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies tracked down the Mustang about a mile to the southwest, in the 12300 block of 9th Drive SE.

The car had been abandoned. Police dogs were searching for anyone connected to the shooting. It wasn’t clear if anyone was hurt. Officers alerted local hospitals, in case any patients showed up to the emergency room with gunshot wounds.

No description of the suspects or the SUV was released.
