MILL CREEK — Jared Mead, who won a seat on the City Council in November, announced Wednesday he will seek a seat in the state House of Representatives this fall.

Mead, a Democrat, will challenge Rep. Mark Harmsworth, R-Mill Creek, for Position 2 in the 44th Legislative District.

Mead, a former city planning commissioner, worked as a legislative assistant for state Sen. Guy Palumbo, D-Maltby, in the 2017 and 2018 sessions. He said his last day on the job was March 8.

A native of Mill Creek, Mead attended Penny Creek Elementary, Gateway Middle School and Jackson High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in international studies and business from the University of Washington Bothell.

Harmsworth, a former Mill Creek City Councilman, won election to his seat in 2014 and was re-elected in 2016.
