Closer Jake Mulholland is one of five players with local ties playing for the No. 9 Oregon State baseball team this season. Here are the other four, with comments from Beavers head coach Pat Casey and a link to the Beavers’ 2018 stats:
Michael Attalah, Fr., RHP, Cedar Park Christian
Casey: “He needed a little more development physically, so we decided to use a redshirt. He doesn’t come from a very big school, so there were a lot of learning situations for him.”
Kyler McMahan, Fr., 2B, Lynnwood
Casey: “He’s in a tough situation because he’s behind a three-year starter in Cadyn Grenier, and he hasn’t played very much, but he’s made big strides as a player.”
Kyle Nobach, R-Sr., OF, Marysville Pilchuck/Everett CC
Casey: “We’ve just been waiting for him to get 100 percent healthy (Nobach missed all of last season after knee surgery). He had a scope done on his knee a little while ago and hasn’t quite been at 100 percent, but he has a very good opportunity to play every day.”
Ryan Ober, Fr., 3B, Glacier Peak
Casey: “He’s also behind a three-year starter in Michael Gretler. We think both he and Kyler will be very good players in our program. They can both play different positions and are valuable guys.”
