STANWOOD — A $1.3 million project to repair a slide-prone section of Marine Drive between Stanwood and Warm Beach is now complete. The road was reopened Thursday after a six-week full closure, on time and on budget, said Matt Phelps, a spokesman for Snohomish County Public Works.

The trouble spot had been prone to slides. In 2016, maintenance crews noticed the embankment started to move again. Lanes were shifted and the speed limit was reduced while planners came up with a more permanent solution.

The speed limit will revert back to the normal 40 mph.
