A recent fundraising breakfast and related donations raised more than $60,000 toward a capital campaign for a new Edmonds Senior Center. The group now has $12 million toward its $16 million goal.

The Oct. 25 event at the Edmonds Yacht Club highlighted plans for the Edmonds Waterfront Center, a 26,000-square-foot facility that will in part serve aging residents of south Snohomish and north King counties. The goal is to break ground in spring 2019.

“Brain Rules” author Dr. John Medina was the keynote speaker. Edmonds-Woodway High School students Rosemary Chang and Stephany Janssen also shared messages about building community.
