The Arlington boys basketball team plays host to its ninth annual Coaches vs. Cancer game Friday night against Archbishop Murphy.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the event, which raises funds for the American Cancer Society and supports those in the community who have been affected by the disease. A special pregame ceremony will take place prior to the varsity game, which is scheduled to tip off at 7:15 p.m.

Honorary coaches will be recognized during the pregame ceremony and sit on the teams’ benches during the game. The honorary coaches are individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer or are representing someone affected by the disease.

There are several activities scheduled throughout the night, including halftime pop-a-shot, raffle prizes and giveaways. A donation bucket also will be available.

The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
