Snohomish County’s firefighters are going toe-to-toe on the basketball court, and it’s all for a good cause.

Members of the Everett Fire Department and the South Snohomish County Fire Department are facing off in a basketball game at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Walt Price Student Fitness Center on the campus of Everett Community College.

Tickets are $5 and all proceeds go to the Washington State Council of Firefighters Burn Foundation.

The teams are scheduled to play four 8-minute quarters. This is believed to be the first time the Everett Fire Department and South Snohomish County Fire Department have faced one another in a basketball game.

The game takes place in between the women’s and men’s basketball games between the Everett Community College Trojans and the Edmonds Community College Tritons on Saturday.

This season Johnson is averaging 14.2 points and 4.9 rebounds for a BYU team that’s 6-0 in league play and 14-3 overall.

Snohomish native advances in Titan Games

Snohomish High School graduate Bridger Buckley, now a senior at Washington State University, has advanced on television’s The Titan Games.

Buckley was one of 64 contestants selected to compete in The Titan Games, a physical competition series aired by NBC that’s hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson of professional wrestling and movie fame.

Buckley won two head-to-head competitions — the Hammering Ram and Mount Olympus — on the episode aired last Thursday to advance in the competition. The next episode airs this Thursday.
