Lake Stevens ranked No. 1 in first AP poll of the season

The Lake Stevens Vikings are ranked No. 1 in Class 4A in the first Associated Press High School Football Poll of the season.

The poll was released Wednesday.

Lake Stevens, which opened its season Friday with a 55-0 victory over Ferndale, received five of the six first-place votes. The Vikings play at Lincoln of Tacoma on Friday. The Abes (0-1) are No. 4 in the Class 3A poll.

Lake Stevens is one of three locals teams in the AP rankings. Oak Harbor (1-0) is ranked 10th in 3A, and Archbishop Murphy is No. 4 in the 2A poll.

Murphy plays Hockinson, the No.1-ranked 2A team in the state, Friday night in Brush Prairie.

The state’s other top-ranked teams are Eastside Catholic (3A), Royal (1A), Kalama (2B) and Odessa (1B).
