Meadowdale alum Hamlett selected by Seattle in XFL draft

The Seattle Dragons selected former Meadowdale High School football standout Connor Hamlett on the second day of the XFL draft.
The Dragons picked Hamlett, a tight end, in the seventh round of the open phase of the draft Wednesday.
Hamlett, 27, played college football at Oregon State University and has spent time in the NFL. He appeared in three regular-season games with the Cleveland Browns in 2016, catching one pass for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Hamlett signed last year with the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football (AAF), but the league folded this past spring just eight weeks into its inaugural season.
Hamlett is the second Snohomish County player drafted by the Dragons. On Tuesday, Seattle selected defensive lineman Taniela Tupou, a former Archbishop Murphy standout. Tupou played at the University of Washington before spending time with the Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals of the NFL.
Tupou also played for the AAF’s San Diego Fleet before the league folded.
