The Class 4A and 3A high school volleyball state tournaments take place Friday and Saturday in the Yakima Valley SunDome. Below are capsules for the three local teams heading to Yakima.

Format: Both tournaments consist of a 16-team modified double-elimination bracket, with one loss eliminating teams from title contention and two losses eliminating teams from the tournament.

Schedule: The first round and quarterfinals are Friday, followed by the semifinals at 1 p.m. Saturday and the championship matches at 7 p.m. Saturday. Consolation-bracket matches begin Friday and continue Saturday.

LAKE STEVENS

Classification: 4A

Record: 16-1

First round: vs. Camas (14-5), 11:45 a.m. Friday

About the Vikings: After claiming its fourth straight regular-season Wesco 4A title and beating KingCo 4A champion North Creek to claim the 4A Wes-King Bi-District crown last Saturday, Lake Stevens is headed to state for the fourth consecutive year. The junior-laden Vikings have swept 13 of 17 matches and won 49 of 56 sets, excluding non-postseason tournament play. Samaya Morin leads Lake Stevens with 3.8 kills and 2.3 digs per set, along with a .418 hitting percentage. Tatum Smith adds 2.1 kills and 2.2 digs per frame, while Karli Tri averages 1.8 kills and 0.6 blocks. Piper Smith provides a team-high 2.8 digs, Michelle Fast contributes 7.7 assists and Maddie Iseminger adds 1.5 kills and 0.5 blocks per set.

SNOHOMISH

Classification: 3A

Record: 14-3

First round: vs. Gig Harbor (13-7), 8 a.m. Friday

About the Panthers: After an eighth-place state finish in 2017 and a fifth-place state trophy last year, Snohomish is headed back to state for the third consecutive season. The Panthers finished second in Wesco 3A/2A and advanced to the 3A Northwest District title match, where they fell to Ferndale in straight sets. Snohomish has swept 12 of 17 matches and won 44 of 55 sets, excluding non-postseason tournament play. MacKenzie Whyte leads the Panthers with 4.4 kills, 4.7 digs and 1.1 aces per set. Jasett Smith adds 3.0 kills and 5.0 digs per frame. Lauren Riske provides a team-high 6.0 digs per set and Sarah Campfield adds 2.3 kills and 1.2 blocks per frame.

ARLINGTON

Classification: 3A

Record: 17-1

First round: vs. Peninsula (14-4), 8 a.m. Friday

About the Eagles: Arlington went unbeaten in conference play to claim the Wesco 3A/2A title and is headed to state for just the third time in program history, with 2016 and 1996 being its other two state appearances. After suffering their only loss of the season in a four-set defeat to Ferndale in the 3A Northwest District semifinals, the Eagles rebounded to reach state by sweeping Shorecrest and Oak Harbor in back-to-back district elimination matches. Arlington has swept 14 of 18 matches and won 52 of 59 sets, excluding non-postseason tournament play. Arianna Bilby leads the Eagles with 4.2 kills and 3.1 digs per set, while Emily Mekelburg adds 2.8 kills and 1.3 aces per frame. Taylor Pederson provides a team-high 5.8 assists, Paige Richards contributes 2.5 digs and Teagan Sutherland and Julia Parra combine for 1.3 blocks per set.
