SKYKOMISH — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing of a Snohomish County man whose body was found near a logging road in Skykomish last week.
Detectives with the King County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit identified the suspect, a 32-year-old man, and discovered he had fled to California.
The detectives drove to Red Bluff in Northern California, where they worked with local law enforcement to find the man. They arrested him as he left a hotel room and booked him into the Tehama County Jail for investigation of murder. He awaits extradition to Washington.
The man who was killed was 34-year-old Brandt Stewart. The King County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.
“Despite limited resources in our Major Crimes Unit, our detectives worked tirelessly to identify and arrest a suspect in this case in just six days,” said Sheriff Mitzi Johanknecht. “I am proud of their work and grateful for their incredible efforts to seek justice for Mr. Stewart’s family.”
