SIOUX CITY, Iowa — At least one Snohomish County product is bringing home a national college basketball title.

Kaitlin Larson, who starred at Stanwood High School, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out four assists and scored three points to help lead Westmont College to a 72-61 win over Thomas More College in the women’s NAIA college basketball championship on Tuesday evening.

The junior post scored 15 points in a win over Indiana Wesleyan in the semifinals of the tournament.

As a senior in high school, Larson was a member of The Herald’s 2018 All-Area girls basketball second team and helped guide Stanwood to a fifth-place trophy at the 2018 Class 3A Hardwood Classic. Larson was also a first-team All-Wesco selection in basketball and a second-team All-Wesco selection in track and field as a senior.
