SNOHOMISH — A year after giving up two late leads to the Glacier Peak boys basketball team, Mariner wasn’t about to let it happen again.

The Marauders rolled to a 64-36 win over the Grizzlies in an early matchup of two undefeated Wesco teams and two of the top teams in Snohomish County.

BJ Kolly Jr. led a balanced Mariner offense with 15 points, Tijan Saine and Henry Avra each had 14 and Naser Motley 13.

Mariner went 11-3 in Wesco 4A last season, but could never overcome a powerful Glacier Peak team which finished league play at 14-0.

This season, the Marauders have established themselves as the top boys basketball teams in the area, rolling to a 7-0 record with an average margin of victory of 25.7 points per game.

Glacier Peak (4-1) entered the game undefeated with a number of close wins, but couldn’t keep up with high-scoring Mariner, which averages 73 points per game this season.

Cooper Jensen led the Grizzlies with 12 points and Tucker Molina chipped in 11.
