County Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2022: Darrell Storkson

Storkson competed on the Professional Bowlers Association tour, reaching his peak while on the PBA Senior Tour when he won the Senior Masters in 1999.

In high school Storkson’s primary sport was golf, as he helped lead Everett to back-to-back state titles. But he made his name at the bowling alley, joining the PBA at the age of 27. During his career he competed in 25 events, cashing in on 12.

But Storkson came into his own on the Senior Tour. In addition to winning the Senior Masters in 1999, he finished second at the Senior Masters in 2001, won the Showboat Open in 2003 and claimed the Northwest Senior Masters in 2003. In 2004, at the age of 61, he bowled his 18th 300 game.

In 2005 Storkson was inducted into the Washington State U.S. Bowling Congress Hall of Fame, and in 2019 he was inducted into the Snohomish County U.S. Bowling Congress Hall of Fame. When The Herald created its list of the 50 greatest athletes in Snohomish County history in 2005, Storkson came in at No. 48.

Storkson was also a pillar of the local bowling community as he and his wife Marjorie operated Evergreen Lanes in Everett for 48 years from 1969 to 2017.
