The 2023 session of Washington’s Legislature begins Monday in Olympia. It is scheduled to last 105 days.

After a pandemic-driven two-year time out, the 147 lawmakers will conduct this one in person.

Committee hearings will be on campus with an option for folks to testify remotely. Floor sessions should be back to normal though a minimal number of lawmakers may work from home if they get sick. Access to galleries won’t be limited to a few vaccinated souls as it was last session.

This session, Democrats will again enjoy a trifecta of political power with control of the House, the Senate and the governor’s mansion. Republicans will again press hard, and sometimes loudly, an agenda that offers clear contrasts in approach on fiscal and social policies.

There are 24 lawmakers — 16 representatives and 8 senators — spread across eight legislative districts serving Snohomish and Island counties. Below you will find how to reach them by email and phone.

Messages can also be left for any lawmaker at the Legislative Hotline, 800-562-6000. The hotline is a place to check the progress of bills and learn when hearings or legislative action are planned. You can sign up to receive emails of upcoming committee meetings, press releases from agencies and other legislative events. More information can be found on the Legislature website at leg.wa.gov.

TVW, the state’s version of C-Span, will provide live gavel-to-gavel coverage on television and streaming online. Every hearing, floor session and press conference gets archived right away, so don’t worry about missing something.
