Marysville Getchell 63, Everett 40

MARYSVILLE — Needing two points to break Malakhi Knight’s Marysville Getchell all-time record of 1,783 points, Senior Bubba Palacol scored 19 in a comfortable Chargers win.

Palacol has had his eyes set on the mark for a while now.

“I finished junior year with 1,000-something and I knew getting the scoring record was in reach,” Palacol said, having averaged 24.2 points per game this season.

Palacol recalled the countless hours he has spent with his dad and brother Mariano, a fellow Charger, for his improvement since his freshman year. Head coach Corby Schuh’s confidence in his star senior is apparent as well, as the Chargers often rely on Palacol’s driving ability to start their offense.

Palacol credited that trust from the coaching staff for his three-level scoring ability and consistent output.

“(Schuh) has never told me not to shoot the ball,” Palacol said. “So that gives me confidence.”

The win moved Marysville Getchell to 12-5 overall and 6-1 in league play ahead of a Friday road matchup with league-leader Monroe.

Everett (7-10, 2-5) was led by senior Noah Parker’s 12 points.

Monroe 66, Snohomish 59

MONROE — The Bearcats (16-2, 8-0) held off a solid effort from the Panthers (6-12, 3-5) to stay perfect in league play. Monroe outpaced Snohomish thanks to their balanced scoring, as four players scored over 10 points on the night. Junior Chayce Waite-Kellar stood out for the Bearcats with 18 points while sophomore Deyton Wheat had a game-high 21 points for the Panthers.

Stanwood 69, Marysville Pilchuck 40

MARYSVILLE — A strong second half (43-24) propelled the Spartans to a comfortable league win against the Tomahawks. Senior Greyson Pierce led Stanwood (5-13, 3-5) with a game-high 24 points while junior Michael Taylor had 17 points for Marysville Pilchuck (1-17, 1-7).

Shorecrest 74, Edmonds-Woodway 52

EDMONDS — The Scots (17-2, 9-2) won a high-profile rematch to hand the Warriors (17-1, 8-1) their first loss of the season.

MILL CREEK — The Eagles (13-5, 8-2) took down the Timberwolves (10-7, 6-3) to defend second place in the league. After leading by three at the half, Arlington held Jackson to just seven points in the third to extend their advantage for the home stretch. The Eagles scored by committee, as junior Hudson Miller (14) and senior Leyton Martin (11) combined for 25 points. Jackson junior Seamus William had 13 points in the loss.

MARYSVILLE — Junior Davien Parks scored a game-high 34 to help keep the high-scoring Hawks (16-0, 5-0) perfect on the season. Though it wasn’t their best night in keeping an opponent off the boards, Tulalip Heritage had 19 steals to just 12 team turnovers to create plenty of transition scoring opportunities.

Lakewood 75, Blaine 38

ARLINGTON — The Cougars (13-5, 9-3) outscored the Borderites (3-14, 0-12) 38-15 in the second half to secure a convincing home win. Lakewood had four double-digit scorers on the night — junior Caleb Greenland led the way with a game-high 16 points.

Shorecrest 51, Edmonds-Woodway 35

SHORELINE — The Scots (10-7, 7-4) earned their fourth straight win behind senior Cassie Chesnut’s game-high 26 points. With a 31-27 lead after three quarters, Shorecrest held Edmonds-Woodway (9-8, 2-7) to just eight points in the fourth to pull away. Senior Abi Porter (12) and junior Finley Wichers (11) combined for 23 points to lead the Warriors.
