EVERETT — A Woodinville teen died in a two-car collision Wednesday evening that blocked Highway 203 near Cherry Valley Road between Duvall and Monroe for around five hours.

Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, a 2006 Mazda MX-5 was traveling south on Highway 203 near milepost 20 when it entered the northbound lane to pass traffic, according to a Washington State Patrol press release. The Mazda attempted to merge back into the southbound lanes when it lost control, re-entered the northbound lanes, where a 2004 Subaru Legacy wagon traveling north struck the vehicle.

Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane.

First responders pronounced the Mazda’s driver, Fox Dreyer, 18, deceased at the scene and transported the driver of the Subaru, a 21-year-old woman, to EvergreenHealth Monroe as a precaution, the release said.

Around 11 p.m., all lanes reopened, according to a Washington State Department of Transportation social media post.
