50 years ago (1962)

Jack Potter was conducting for the summer music classes offered by the Everett public schools. Already a number of boys had like Russell Wood, Danny Warnock and Jim Douglas had signed up.

Judi Gorbutt was to be installed honored queen of Bethel No. 24, International Order of Job’s Daughters in ceremonies tomorrow in the Masonic Temple. Choir members were Pat Setterlund, Pat Smith, Ann Fulfer, Jean Shauf, Rita Shauf, Marjorie Haslett, Kay Fusby, Suzanne Siewert, Christine Clark and Mary Lou White.

25 years ago (1987)

A new city ordinance made the Everett Historical Commission an independent body for the first time and opened the door for local residents to apply for state and federal tax breaks for restoring historic buildings. Dave Koenig of the planning department said interest in the commission had really picked up in the past few years.

When Tracy Norling graduated from Everett High School this year, she believed her great-grandmother would be by her side. Margaret J. Clark was the sole graduate in Everett High’s first graduating class in 1893. Tracy planned to attend Western Washington University in the fall.
