2025 ADX subcompact luxury SUV bolsters Acura lineup

Acura’s lineup for 2025 has a newcomer, the ADX subcompact luxury SUV.
This is Acura’s smallest SUV. It has compelling sporty styling, lots of desirable standard and optional features, and budget-friendly competitive pricing for the subcompact luxury SUV class.
The ADX is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
For an ADX with front-wheel drive, the EPA fuel economy rating is 26 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. For an all-wheel-drive ADX, subtract one mile across the board. Premium gasoline isn’t required, but it’s a good idea for peak performance.
There are three ADX trim levels: base, A-Spec, and A-Spec with Advance Package. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional for all three.
Pricing starts at $35,000 for the base ADX. The A-Spec trim is $38,000 and the A-Spec with Advance Package is $42,000. These figures do not include the $1,350 destination charge. All-wheel drive is an extra $2,000.
The ADX has roomy seating for five passengers, and the cargo area follows suit with a generous 24.4 cubic feet of space with rear seats upright, and 55.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
Among the many ADX standard features are synthetic leather upholstery, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone integration, Wi-Fi hotspot, satellite radio, moonroof, eight-speaker audio system, and a bundle of driver-assistance tech.
I drove the ADX A-Spec with Advance Package, which adds exterior and interior sport appearance features, a premium 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, hands-free power liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, a heated sport steering wheel, leather seats, multi-view camera system, Alexa built-in, and Google built-in. It also upgrades the seating situation by adding lumbar and memory for the driver’s seat, and power adjustment for the front passenger seat.
The ADX is a nimble, very likeable little SUV. It’s an agreeable handler on a tightly winding road, stable and comfortable on a freeway. An assortment of drive modes lets the driver adjust for different conditions or just personal preferences.
ADX’s spacious interior avoids the sense of confinement that subcompacts have been known to create. Its contemporary design is handsome and well thought-out in terms of object placement and stowage spaces.
This newcomer is a great addition to the Acura lineup, I’d say.
