City of Lynnwood: The city of Lynnwood Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department offers classes for youths and families. Discounts are offered to residents of Lynnwood. For information and registration, call the Lynnwood Recreation Center, 425-771-4030:

* Tot Art, ages 3 to 4, 12:15 to 1 p.m. Thursdays, May 13 to June 10, $19/$20.

* Teens’ Tuesdays, ages 13 to 18, 7 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday, free.

* Night Waves, grades seven to 12, 9:15 to 11:15 p.m. Saturdays, $3.

Curly Tops Cypress (Chamaecyparis pisfiera), a modern version of the old Boulevard Cypress, is one I chose years ago and still enjoy.
