Nothing is hotter than cold brew

Published 2:15 pm Friday, November 6, 2015

Because the process of making cold brew coffee extracts the bitter acids and oils other brewing methods leave behind, it is smoother and has more flavor. Starbucks and Stumptown have joined the cold brew movement, and bottles of the stuff can be found at most grocery stores.

The Toddy Cold Brew System brings cold brew home. It’s simple — fill, brew and filter — and can be served hot or cold. It takes some time; Toddy recommends letting the coffee grounds steep for 12 to 24 hours, but the finished product stays good for two weeks.

Toddy Cold Brew Systems can be purchased at coffee roasters like Vista Clara Coffee in Snohomish, Nordstroms, or at coffee suppliers like Espresso Supply Depot in Everett.
