What: Pulsatilla vulgaris Rote Glocke, also known as the red bells pasque flower, features almost-burgundy flowers enhanced by golden stamens. Bell-shaped flowers are supported by stems with fernlike leaves that later in the season will be topped with white seedheads. Native to Europe and the Ukraine, this perennial blooms during the tulip and daffodil season.
Sun or shade: It prefers full sun, but it also does well in part shade in well-drained soil.
Size: It is a midsized perennial, growing to about 10 inches tall and wide. It supports a large number of blooms.
