We asked readers to tell us what they love about their moms. Kids from 17 to well over 70 entered The Herald’s Mother’s Day contest. The winner received a $100 gift card to Renee’s Contemporary Clothing in Everett. But there were many other heartfelt stories. You can find all of them here.

To my amazing mom. The last few years have been tough, to see this feisty, life-loving bad-ass in the “memory care” unit. It breaks my heart that you don’t remember who I am anymore. Or that you’ve literally taken a swing at me in anger. I always thought I knew what unconditional love was but here you are still teaching me.
Although hard to read, it’s even harder to write, but this is the ugly truth of dementia. This is just a reminder with the upcoming holiday to appreciate those you love. Laugh too much, be too loud and take too many pictures.
