The proprietor is looking forward to a peaceful weekend at the lake — but take-no-prisoners lunacy by his family and guests makes the chance of that happening slim to none. Shows are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $12.

The 18th annual Festival of New Musicals is Aug. 10-12 and features five never-before-seen original musicals. The musicals are presented in staged readings. They are rehearsed presentations of new work, performed and directed by regional theater professionals. Star Trek meets Shakespeare in the new play “M’aQ’betH,” playing through Aug. 12. Alex DeRoest and Nick Poling, the masterminds behind “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” and “The Adventures of Lewis and Clark,” have adapted Shakespeare’s play into a Klingon one. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 adults, $15 seniors, students and military. Summer Shorts: Laugh out loud with Summer Shorts, featuring seven 10-minute comedic plays by local playwrights. “The Little Mermaid”: The Edmonds Driftwood Players Teen Troupe presents the musical based on Disney’s classic animated movie at the Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds. Performances are 8 p.m. Aug. 10 and 11, and 2 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12. Songs include “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World.” Tickets are $15. Tim Noah’s Thumbnail Theater: The Thumb hosts Crackpot Comedy Cavalcade 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the theater, 1211 Fourth St., Snohomish.
