Wacky farm fun

It’s clear that on Farmer Brown’s farm, when the mischievous animals are given an inch, they take as many miles as they can get away with. Mayhem ensues.

This situation is captured in the children’s tale, “Giggle, Giggle, Quack,” which will be performed Saturday at the Everett Civic Auditorium.

The show, produced by Dallas Children’s Theater for Village Theater Pied Piper, is based on the sequel of New York Times bestselling author Doreen Cronin’s “Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type.”

The title and plot are different but the gang’s still the same — those wily animals of Farmer Brown’s who are always trying to get the upper hoof on some poor, unsuspecting human.

This time it’s Farmer Brown’s brother, Bob, who has been put in charge of the farm while Farmer Brown takes a much-needed rest from this taxing brood.

It takes no time for the animals to move on a manipulative plan to rewrite the instructions and incorporate some improvements, such as the hen getting a pizza, the pigs luxuriating in a bubble bath, and the cow enjoying a night at the cinema.

“Kids just go crazy watching as chaos ensues, hysterically on stage,” Pied Piper manager Erica Weir said.

This wacky story is backed by an upbeat score, with music and lyrics by George Howe, according to press material about the show.

“Giggle, Giggle, Quack” will be presented at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave., Everett.

Tickets are $13 and $15. Call 425-257-8600 or go to www.villagetheatre.org.

One hour before curtain, kids can participate in an arts and crafts project sponsored by Imagine Children’s Museum.
