Pedlar teaching: Todd Pedlar of Oak Harbor has joined the Luther College faculty as an assistant professor of physics. Luther College is in Iowa.
Student of month: Tien Ho, daughter of Quang Tran, has been named student of the month by the South Everett-Mukilteo Rotary Club.
A senior with a 3.98 grade-point average, she has served as captain of the school debate team, vice president of the Key Club, editor of the school yearbook and is a member of the Knowledge Bowl and Honor Society. She was a member of the school track team in her freshman and sophomore years. This year she is a member of the conflict mediation organization and is secretary of the academic coaches group.
She won scholastic awards in aerobics, acting, English, debate and chemistry and has lettered three times in debate and twice in track. Her community volunteer activities include tutoring, Bible studies and working at a local senior center and Everett Community Center.
Student visits other Washington: Greg Hnilo, a Henry M. Jackson High School student, recently participated in the National Young Leaders conference in Washington, D.C. The conference was for students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit.
Hnilo was among 350 scholars from around the country chosen for the conference, which explored the three branches of government, the news media and international issues.
