Camano Island residents report rash of debit card fraud

CAMANO ISLAND — Several Camano Island residents have reported fraudulent activity on their debit card accounts, according to the Island County Sheriff’s Office.

All the people say they have debit cards with a local bank but someone is using their information to make purchases.

It’s early in the investigation, Undersheriff Kelly Mauck said.

Detectives are trying to determine how the card information was obtained and used, Mauck said.

Sheriff’s officials say people on Camano Island should monitor their accounts closely and report any fraudulent transactions.
