The VEX Robotics Competition State Championship was held March 11 in Ellensburg.

V-Bots The Five Guys Team 8931A and V-Bots Tarros Team 8931G, both of Cavelero Mid High School in Lake Stevens, were tournament finalists. They went on to compete at the VEX Worlds Competition, held April 19-22 in Louisville, Kentucky. The 5 Guys were among the winners of an online challenge.

There also was a VEX IQ Challenge State Middle School Championship.

The Mukilteo-area robotics club, Trashcan to the Left, saw its Gertrude Team 4713B rank second overall at the state tournament, while fellow 69 Cobra Team 4713A ranked seventh. Gertrude also won a Teamwork Championship Award, qualifying it for the VEX Worlds Competition, held April 23-25 in Louisville, where they finished 87th overall.
