EVERETT — A man died of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest in a confrontation outside a north Everett home, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The deceased was identified as Gerald Lance, 39, of Everett.
A homeowner was returning to his house around 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Chestnut Street, when he “had an altercation with (Lance) in his front yard,” according to Everett police.
The homeowner yelled to his wife to call 911 and opened fire, police said.
Detectives were investigating if Lance and the man had any prior personal history.
No other details have been released about the gunfire.
After an autopsy, the medical examiner confirmed the death was homicide — meaning Lance died at the hands of another person, but not necessarily that the killing was a crime.
