SEATTLE — Bail has been set at $1 million for a 67-year-old felon who has been ordered held in connection with a weekend shooting outside a West Seattle bar. The 36-year-old male victim later died of his injuries.
The Seattle Times reported that Lovett James Chambers was booked into the King County Jail early Sunday for investigation of assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. Jail records show the assault count was upgraded to investigation of homicide after victim Michael Hood died.
Court papers filed Monday say the two were patrons Saturday night at the Feedback Lounge. When Hood left, prosecutors say Chambers followed him and approached him aggressively. Witnesses say Hood picked up a shovel to defend himself. Chambers is accused of shooting Hood four times in the chest.
Witnesses wrote down Chambers’ license plate number.
Court papers say Chambers has prior convictions for kidnapping, rape and armed robbery.
