Man found dead in Terrace Heighs canal

YAKIMA — The Yakima County sheriff’s office says an 80-year-old man may have been trying to retrieve his dog from an irrigation canal in the Terrace Heights area when he fell in and apparently drowned.
His wife checked the canal Tuesday after the dog came home wet.
Neighbors pulled the man from the water and he was declared dead at Yakima Regional Hospital.
