EVERETT — A 31-year-old Monroe man sustained serious injuries during a shooting outside a Monroe bar late Saturday night.
Around 11:33 p.m. Saturday, Monroe police responded to reports of gunshots outside a bar in the 100 block of East Main Street, according to a Monroe Police Department press release. Individuals inside the bar reportedly took cover after hearing gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest, the release said. Witnesses reported that those involved, except for the victim, fled the scene on foot.
Officers performed life-saving procedures until paramedics arrived, the release said. First responders transported the victim to the hospital in serious condition.
Detectives are investigating leads in connection with the shooter’s identity. Early information suggests the individuals knew each other and the incident was the result of a dispute, the release said.
As of Monday morning, there are no updates in the case, according to a Monroe Police Department spokesperson.
