Police: 1 dead after being dumped into Lynnwood garbage truck

LYNNWOOD — A person who was accidentally dumped into a garbage truck Wednesday morning has died, police said.

Around 5:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a person in a collection truck on 196th Street SW, said Lynnwood police spokesperson Maren McKay. Investigators believe the person had been in a dumpster during the truck’s routine pickup route.

Medics pulled the injured person out of the truck and transported them to a nearby hospital, where they later died, McKay said.

Investigators believe it was a “tragic accident.”

It remained an active investigation Wednesday.
