Every afternoon each week at the two Everett hospitals, staffs were aided by the Junior Red Cross. Sharon Houblow and Marilee Smith showed a Christmas card to Ira D. Jones, a patient at Everett General Hospital. Across town at Providence Hospital, Arzetta Hauglie, Perline Quist and Barbara Moreau served meals.
Jean and Jane Weber were hostesses at the home of their parents, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Weber. The occasion was a dinner for Marilyn Sponek, bride-to-be.
Western Gear hired Bob Obear because of his new steel grinder that was about to revolutionize the steel industry, increasing profits for companies by improving the quality of steel. Curt Hecla, production manger for metals at Western Gear in Everett, said the company was ahead of sales projections.
The Mariner High School grapplers won their 57th straight wrestling match. Dennis Winsor, Bruce Furrer and Steve Rawson had pins. Leroy Hornbeck won with a forfeit.
