EVERETT — The Snohomish County Council recognized October as a month of awareness on the topics of domestic violence and disability employment with two resolutions on Wednesday.
Emma Titterness, with Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County, spoke to the council before the passing of a resolution recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“Our team is dedicated, trauma-informed and deeply connected to the community,” she said. “But everyone benefits deeply when the community comes together to support our most vulnerable populations.”
Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County offers a 24-hour support phone line, an emergency shelter, legal advice and other services.
Also, Lance Morehouse, Chief Executive Officer of Sherwood Community Services, spoke to the council before the passing of a resolution recognizing October as Disability Employment Awareness Month.
“The theme is celebrating value and talent,” he said. “When you think about people with disabilities in the workforce, employment is one goal, but supporting a person’s meaningful career is another.”
Sherwood Community Services provides educational and career services to individuals with disabilities.
