Two to four inches of snow fell on Snohomish County overnight, closing schools and making the morning commute more challenging for many local residents.

Weather forecasts call for warming temperatures throughout the day and for the rest of the week so the inconvenience was expected to be temporary. Most heavily traveled roads, including highways and I-5, were bare and wet by 7:30 a.m. Traffic is lighter than usual, though, suggesting that many people saw the snow and decided to wait until it melts.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reported no major blocking incidents or accidents on major roads this morning.
