Swing pendulum on police reforms back to center

I support the recent commentary by Mayor Jon Nehring and Chief Erik Scairpon (“More work needed to correct recent police reforms,” The Herald, April 3). I will simply say that the commentary is spot on. Not only here in the community where I live, where Nehring and Scairpon and my neighbors, but all across America.

I spent 11 years supporting law enforcement with technology and I can personally attest that these folks have nothing but honorable intentions but are handcuffed by legislation that serves the perpetrators of crime better than the population who are affected by crime.

It’s time to swing the pendulum back to center with reasonable limits so law enforcement can attract and retain the best and brightest and begin proactive policing again without fear of the outcome of use of reasonable measures to reduce the negative element that is growing in our communities.
