DeWanna Bonner of the Phoenix Mercury and Tina Charles of the Connecticut Sun have been named the WNBA’s Western Conference and Eastern Conference Players of the Week respectively for games played between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4.
Bonner, who was named the WNBA’s Sixth Woman of the Year in 2009 and 2010, helped the Mercury to a 2-1 record for the week. She averaged 19 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
Charles earned her fourth such award of the season, leading the Sun to a 2-1 record averaging 16.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.
