SEATTLE — Freddie Ljungberg says he’s coming back to America, and specifically to the Seattle Sounders FC.
In a posting on his Web site Tuesday, the Swedish midfielder says he’s heard a new labor agreement between Major League Soccer and its players union may be forthcoming and that he intends to join the Sounders on Feb. 1.
Ljungberg says he’s sorry there has been so much speculation about his future. Ljungberg has been linked with numerous teams in Europe and the transfer window for European clubs closes on Sunday.
He also says that a miscommunication with Sounders management is why he wasn’t in town for the start of Seattle’s training camp on Monday.
