Matt Grant’s status still uncertain

The Tips took a flier on forward Matt Grant in Monday’s trade that sent goaltender Luke Siemens to Moose Jaw. Grant, acquired along with two third-round bantam picks, did not return to Moose Jaw this season for his 18-year-old campaign, instead electing to play closer to home in the BCHL. Everett general manager Doug Soetaert didn’t talk to Grant before the trade and didn’t know whether Grant would be open to playing in Everett, but he figured it was worth taking a stab.
One day later and there’s still no definitive word on whether Grant will be joining the Tips. This afternoon Soetaert described the situation as “a work in progress.”
In other news, all of Everett’s players except long-term casualty Manraj Hayer are now taking full part in practice, including forwards Trent Lofthouse (wrist) and Kohl Bauml (concussion) and defenseman Tye Hand (concussion). So it seems the lengthy break has had at least one positive effect on the Tips, allowing them to heal.
