Wesco South 3A Girls Tennis Tournament

EDMONDS — Shorewood’s Rylie Gettmann and Alex Mignongna, the respective first and second overall seeds at Tuesday’s Wesco South 3A Girls Tennis Tournament, dominated the singles competition to advance to the first-place match against one another.

Gettmann took down Meadowdale’s Claire Yim (6-0, 6-0) and Edmonds-Woodway’s Maddie Ashe (6-0, 6-0) in clean sweeps to advance. Meanwhile, Mignogna defeated Edmonds-Woodway’s Amelia Miller and Meadowdale’s Katelynne Wyckoff (6-0, 6-2) to secure a berth in the title match.

Shorewood’s dominance continued in doubles play, as No. 1 seed Bridget Cox and Mari Brittle and No. 6 seed Cally Webb and Addy Falkin advanced to the final.

Cox and Brittle took down Meadowdale’s Emie Shepherd and Jenna Vanderpoel (6-3, 6-1) and Shorecrest’s Zoe Greenzweig and Ally Miner (6-4, 6-4) en route to the final. Webb and Falkin didn’t have a first-round bye and took down three tandems to advance. In all, they defeated Mountlake Terrace’s Sumaya Ali and Ahna Elseberry (6-0, 6-0), Edmonds-Woodway’s Sydney Bates and Darcy Brennan (6-2, 6-4) and Shorecrest’s Mia Halset and Lily Haessler (7-5, 6-4).

Wesco North 3A Girls Tennis Tournament

STANWOOD — Snohomish’s Mak Dauer (No. 1 seed) and Monroe’s Jaeda Boomars (No. 2 seed) advanced to the Wesco North 3A/2A singles title game after besting two opponents each.

Dauer took down Everett’s Dylan Stanford (6-0, 6-0) and Stanwood’s Grace Ross (6-0, 6-0) while Boomars defeated Everett’s Megan McMains (6-0, 6-1) and Stanwood’s Halle Femrite (6-3, 6-1).

The doubles bracket is yet to field finalists after day one, but Snohomish’s Morgan Gibson and Annie VanAssche, Everett’s Aimelie Hovde-Girard and Avery Nasin, Monroe’s Tanisha Segran and Emiko Spengler and Stanwood’s Addi Bowie and Mylee Lacomb remain in the running for a title.
