Outlook: Defending champs will have to make room for Lake Stevens.

2000-2001 recap: 7-0 in duals. Won Wesco 3A championship. Finished first in league, district and state meets.

Outlook: The only question is whether the move to 4A will keep the Vikings from winning a third straight state title.

Coach: Craig Iversen, 2nd year.

2000-2001 recap: 7-3 in league duals. 12-4 overall. Fourth in the league meet, 10th in the regional.

Leading athletes: Tony Botelho, senior, 125; Tyler Dormaier, senior, 140; Drew Zerfing, senior, 130; John Hanks, junior, 112; Norman Orr, sophomore, 140.

Outlook: A good team that faces some tough meets in an extremely competitive division.

Coach: Randy Berg, 19th year.

2000-2001 recap: 1-6 in league duals, 1-12 overall. Seventh in league meet.

Leading athletes: Willie Ward, junior, 140; Mike Studly, junior, 135.

Quote: “Monroe is still a young team,” Berg said. “It will be a building year.”

Coach: Kurt Harvill, 6th year.

Leading athletes: Matt Curry, junior, 119; Beau Robideau, junior, 125/130; Casey Audette, sophomore, 125/130; Robbie Curry, senior, 140; Richard Kowell, junior, 275; Eric Cunningham, junior, 189.

Quote: “We have a young team with good experience,” Harvill said. “We are looking forward to competing in a new league.”

Coach: Brian Farmer, 4th year.

Outlook: The Wildcats lost a state champion and a state runnerup to graduation and will probably drop back to the middle of the pack.

Coach: Mark Perry, 18th year.

Leading athletes: Brad Kihm, senior, 152; Tommy McDonnell, senior, 140; Derek Misner, senior, 160; Trevor Pratt, junior, 125; Nick Burke, senior, 160; Lance Stach, senior, 152.

Quote: “We will be very young, but competitive,” Perry said. “Our younger athletes got experience last season and should be better prepared for our conference.”

Coach: Tom Wilfong, 12th year.

Outlook: The Spartans have the muscle to make an impact at the 4A level.

Coach: Mike Hanchett, 2nd year.

Leading athletes: Matt Hadreas, senior, 112.

Outlook: Will be a contender for the division dual meet title in a wide-open race.

Coach: Mark Ryder, 6th year.

2000-2001 recap: 4-3 in league duals, 5-4 overall. Fifth in the league meet.

Leading athletes: Tim Irwin, junior, 112/119; Tom Bagley, senior, 160; Chad Waddell, senior, 171; Jason Contreras, senior, 189; Brian Turner, senior, 215.

Outlook: A mid-pack team with the ability to pull off a surprise.

Coach: Blaine Gilchrist-Smith, 8th year.

2000-2001 recap: 2-5 in league duals, 4-7 overall. Eighth in the league meet.

Leading athletes: David Prisbey, senior, 112; Darren Birkenbuel, junior, 119; Brandon Wood, junior, 125; Mike Yonkers, senior, 140; Sky Croft, junior, 160; Dan Rodriguez, junior, 152; Mike Kummerfeldt, senior, 171.

Quote: “We hope to finish near the top in the Wesco South Division,” Gilchrist-Smith said.

Coach: Bill Donnelly, 2nd year.

2000-2001 recap: 4-5-1 in league duals, 5-6-1 overall. Sixth in the district meet, 15th in the regional.

Leading athletes: Mike Quarrie, senior, 189; Steve McCoy, senior, 130; Josh Yasuda, senior, 140; Jared Vandriessche, senior, 152.

Outlook: Kamiak will be a contender in a wide-open division.

Coach: Kevin Judkins, 13th year.

2000-2001 recap: 3-4 in league duals, 9-7 overall. Fourth in the league meet.

Leading athletes: Reese Cogdill, junior, 215.

Quote: “We lack numbers and will be forfeiting a couple of weights, making it tough to compete for a championship” Judkins said.

Coach: Carl Wilkins, 3rd year.

2000-2001 recap: 4-6 in league duals. Seventh in the district meet, 11th in the regional.

Leading athletes: Kyle Castle, junior, 125; Jason Murray, junior, 112.

Outlook: Returning wrestlers are solid. Otherwise, a young team in development stage. If youngsters step up, could provide a surprise or two.

Coach: Brian Boardman, 2nd year.

2000-2001 recap: 0-7 in league duals, 4-9-1 overall. Sixth in the league meet.

Leading athletes: Dave Primacio, senior, 135, Dan Miller, senior, 189; Micah Perin, junior, 103.

Outlook: With the help of new assistant coach Josh Knowles and increased numbers of wrestlers, Boardman said the Mavericks should be competitive this season.

Coach: Kanoe Vierra, 4th year.

2000-2001 recap: 2-8 in league duals, 3-9 overall. Ninth in the district meet, 14th in the regional.

Leading athletes: Mong Chi Lin, senior, 189; Eric Jansen, senior, 145.

Quote: “We have a young team with only two returning seniors,” Vierra said. “I look for us to be competitive in the dual meet season and we should have a couple of wrestlers place in the tournaments that we compete in during the season.”

Coach: Brent Busby, 3rd year.

2000-2001 recap: 0-10 in league duals, 0-13 overall. Eleventh in the district meet, 17th in the regional.

Leading athletes: Joe Edwards-Hoff, junior, 171.

Outlook: An improved team seeking to establish a reputation.

Coach: Arnie Moreno, 3rd year.

2000-2001 recap: 1-9 in league duals, 2-11 overall. Tenth in the district meet, 18th in the regional.

Leading athletes: Colin Ferris, sophomore, 112; Ray Sanders, junior, 119; Josh Rosenkranz, senior, 140; Matt Wuerffel, senior, 171; Matt Desjardien, senior, 215.

Quote: “This is the third year for the program and I’m excited,” Moreno said. “We’re starting to see some experience come through.”

Coach: Selwyn Foster

2000-2001 recap: 2-5 in league duals, 4-6-1 overall. Eighth in the league meet, 13th in the regional.

Leading athletes: Neil Hollo, sophomore, 112; Josh Herbert, freshman, 119; Jake Kuchuck, senior, 135; Andres Valleza, senior, 140.

Outlook: Solid lineup. Should do as well or better than last season.

Coach: Jeff Ingrum, 7th year.

2000-2001 recap: 5-2 in league duals, 9-5 overall. Third in the league meet, fourth in the regional.

Leading athletes: Joe Edmonds, sophomore, 119/215; Jeff Brown, senior, 125/130; Brett Bailey, senior, 135/140; Dan Caldwell, senior, 171/189; Jon Edmonds, senior, 215/275.

Outlook: With five state participants back, the Cougars should be one of the strongest teams in the league.

Coach: Mike Crebbin, 5th year.

2000-2001 recap: 4-3 in league duals, 5-4-1 overall. Fourth in the league meet, ninth in the regional.

Leading athletes: Brandon Hern, senior, 171; Chris Martin, senior, 189; Conelly White, sophomore, 119; Chris Long, junior, 140; Andy Wills, junior, 152.

Outlook: The Falcons, led by Hern, a returning state champion, hope to overtake Lakewood for third place.

Coach: Wes Fischer, 10th year.

2000-2001 recap: 3-4 in league duals, 8-6 overall. Fifth in the league meet, 10th in the regional.

Leading athletes: Mark Atterbury, junior, 125; Adam Colliers, junior, 112; Izac Margarito, senior, 112; Ryan Conley, sophomore, 120.

Outlook: A young team made up of mostly underclassmen. Placement depends largely on progress of freshmen and sophomores.

Coach: Chad Monteith, 2nd year.

2000-2001 recap: 3-2 in league duals, 5-3-1 overall.

Leading athletes: Kyle Stevens, senior, 130; Jordan Padgett, senior, 140; Mike Elrod, senior, 160; Darren Holz, junior, 103; Jeremy Cabe, junior, 189.

Outlook: With 11 state participants back and lots of seniors, the Loggers should get by Concrete this season.
