Back to school, stride in stride

Students from Lakewood Elementary School were among the thousands who ventured back into classrooms at 11 Snohomish and Island counties school districts Tuesday. With determined strides belying the trepidation often felt by students — and parents — on the first day, one group of students headed from bus to class while others clambered for places to hang coats and backpacks in Jean Taylor’s first-grade classroom. Neighboring youths in Arlington and in Everett, Monroe and Mukilteo schools head back today. ednesday
