San Jose News

Here’s some news on San Jose State from the San Jose Mercury News, the only paper that really covers the team regularly. It’s from Sunday: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/colleges/san_jose_state/15367550.htm

The main news out of it is that the Spartans apparently have lost their most experienced defensive lineman to a kneecap injury. That would leave San Jose State really thin up front, which could be great news for a Husky offensive line that is inexperienced. If Washington can build a solid lead, it would be a great opportunity for the UW’s backups on the line to gain some experience against a unit that shouldn’t overwhelm it physically.

Also of note is that San Jose is still deciding on a starting quarterback, though injuries may have solved that problem by today.

Spartans’ coach Dick Tomey will have a teleconference this morning, followed by the Huskies’ first weekly Monday press day, and we’ll have a report after that.
