Two More Days

Two days to go before the Huskies kick off the season, and everyone will get a chance to see if Washington is improved over last season. We’ll have our season preview in tomorrow’s paper, but a couple of Pac-10 teams open tonight. Since I won’t get my predictions in the paper before those games are played, here’s what I think will happen:
Eastern Washington at Oregon State: Not the toughest way for the Beavers to open the season, but next week they get Boise State so we’ll forgive them. Eastern has played OSU tough from time to time, but this probably won’t be one of those times. Look for Matt Moore to have a big game and Yvenson Bernard to be pretty unstoppable. Pick: Oregon State 49-14.
Northern Arizona at Arizona State: Why are the Sun Devils playing this game? Well I guess you’ve got to start somewhere. We won’t learn too much by this game, but what we do see should be impressive. Look for Rudy Carpenter to put up big numbers and Rudy Burgess to have around 150 receiving yards and a couple touchdowns. Pick: Arizona State 60-3.
The San Jose Mercury News had their football preview today and here’s their story about San Jose State: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/colleges/san_jose_state/15407741.htm
Also, if you missed it, this week’s Husky game is not on television, and Fox Sports has done away with its weekly replay. But fans can watch a replay of every UW game this season on the Internet. GoHuskies.com will offer every game on its Dawg Channel every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to midnight. Access is free, you just have to go the the web site, click on the Dawg Channel graphic on the front page and fill out the free registration.
